About the Big Horn Engines
The Ram 1500 may be on the larger side, but it handles incredibly well due to its coil-link suspension that provides a smooth ride even on less than ideal terrain. The mild-hybrid system helps fuel efficiency. When equipped with rear-wheel drive, the V6 Ram gets 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Four-wheel drive Rams with the V6 lowers that to 21 mpg on the highway, but it's still respectable. With the V8 engine, the rear-wheel-drive RAM 1500 has 17 mpg combined with city and highway driving, while the four-wheel-drive option gets 19 mpg. When you equip the eTorque, the Ram is incredibly thrifty as it gets 19 mpg with either the rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Several engine options are available, with the standard being a 3.6-liter V6 that comes with 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Optional is the tried-and-true 5.7-liter V8 that pumps out 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. You also have the option of a 3.0-liter V6 engine that delivers 260 horsepower and a class-leading 480 lb-ft of torque. Each engine pairs nicely with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
What are some of the Big Horn's top features?
Kicking off the Big Horns long list of features is an 8.4-inch or 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen that comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a mobile hotspot. The Uconnect 4C touchscreen is a game-changer and has features such as split-screen capability, 360-degree camera views, and exclusive content from SiriusXM with 360L. Inside the cabin, the Ram 1500 has twice the storage capacity as the competition thanks to the cubby storage and a large amount of passenger space. On the outside, the class-exclusive RamBox cargo management system, which has relocatable anchor points, bed divider, and new Multifunction Tailgate, make for the best pickup bed in the business. The Big Horn also comes with some exterior chrome features. Also included are 18-inch aluminum wheels, foglights, and a 60/40-split rear seat.
Ram 1500 Option Packages
The Big Horn has several option packages that are sure to be a home run. Starting things is a Max Towing Package and Diesel Max Towing Package, which has a rear stabilizer bar, trailer tow mirrors, and 18-inch off-road tires. The Premium Lighting Group comes with bi-LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, and LED fog lamps. For those who do a lot of off-roading, the 4X4 Off-road Group comes with tow hooks, a front suspension skid plate, transfer case skid plate, all-terrain tires, off-road decals, and hill-decent control. Finally, a Bed Utility Group comes with upper adjustable tie-downs, a bed extender, bed lighting, and a spray-in bedliner.
